I have a Acer V203H with a resolution of 900p. In AMD CCC i set it to 1080p and get the message "input not supported" I am using DVI. I turn the pc off then on and get the same message, i can no long operate the computer. GPU xfx r7 260x

i am using windows 8.1

Solution
HDMI communicates with the display device...maybe the software is being too clever and storing display settings according to which display device it detects is connected.

But, you can at least use the connection to the TV to set the PC to boot into safe mode (see the link in my second post) and then connect it back to the monitor and hopefully be able to sort the resolution from there?

Otherwise removing the drivers whilst connected to the TV and then installing them whilst connected to your monitor is the only other option I can think of.

Keep pressing F8 continually when you turn it on, you will get a boot up menu, select Safe mode.

Can you get into Safe Mode via F8/Shift+F8?

Have to say, I hadn't realised Win8.1 made the highly-vital Safe Mode so difficult to access from boot up.

If you've an Intel chip with HD graphics, you could remove the graphics card, boot up using the CPU graphics (which should boot to a non-1080p resolution), remove CCC and any other related AMD drivers and then reinstall the card again.

Otherwise you'll have to borrow a 1080p monitor (can you use your TV?), connect the PC so you can see what you're doing and set the resolution back to 900p through that.

I actually connected it to another tv (1080p) and set it back to 900p and it didn't work. I did that by using a hdmi when i originally used DVI

Sort of.
However, the hardware and software improvements in Windows 8 have collapsed the slice of time that remains for Windows to read and respond to the F8 keystroke. We have SSD-based UEFI systems where the “F8 window” is always less than 200 milliseconds. No matter how fast your fingers are, there is no way to reliably catch a 200 millisecond event. So you tap. I remember walking the halls and hearing people frantically trying to catch the F8 window – “tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap” – only to watch them reboot several times until they managed to finally get a tap inside the F8 window. We did an informal study and determined that top performers could, at best, sustain repeated tapping at about a 250ms frequency. Even in this best case, catching a 200 millisecond window still depends somewhat on randomness.

Up to the OP if they want to continually mash/reboot until they get lucky. Personally I'd stick to connecting it up to the TV and sorting it out from there.

I fixed it, used recovery in safe mode because it wouldn't work properly in its normal mode. On a side note how long is the warranty of xdx cards. This only happened because i was fidling around with the settings as i believe could change the fan setting, but i believe it is faulty. thanks for the help.

Sorry, hadn't realised this was 'live' tech support or would have looked in sooner. ;) Glad you got it sorted now anyway.

The XFX warranty depends on the card type, where you bought it and whether you registered it, I believe. Maybe start a new thread so people can advise on whether the card does have a fault?
