Recommendation for SATA (6gb?) adapter for PCIe v1.0 motherboard

I have a system based on an Asus P5K-E motherboard that I want to keep in service, but I'm pretty sure it's PCIe v1.0. It does have an open 4-lane PCIe slot though. I have been considering getting a SATA III adapter to see if it would make the most of the x4 slot even if it's v1.0.

The only thing that I've come up with so far is the Syba PEX50055 (chipset = Asmedia ASM1061, Etron EJ168A for USB 3). It does appear to use all 4 lanes (some boards look like x4, but are only wired for x2).

Does anyone know of other alternatives? I don't want it to get too pricey, or it won't be worthwhile. No RAID required--I'm just going to use the system for internet and mass storage.

Thats probably as good as any of the cheap ones. The AsMedia controller isn't bad but be aware that your pcie1 motherbd will only run that card at half speed max.

The only thing I was hoping for is to run one SATA port at 6gb speed. Some had claimed that the Syba adapter only connects one PCIe lane to the SATA chip, but Syba's tech support indicates that is not correct. Hard to say.

I had also found an Asus board that looked like it may work, but I've seen many complaints about compatibility with their hardware lately (I just went with Gigabyte for a new motherboard after being an Asus fan for many years). SATA adapters are also difficult to judge purely by reviews since so many of the down-votes are from those who expected to boot their SSD's from them.

In any case, I know there will be an unavoidable speed trade-off, but I did order the Syba PEX50055 adapter. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for your reply!
