Sharing connection with neighbor and my Belkin extender burned out! Can I use what I have to get back up and running?

As stated in my title I have been sharing my connection with my neighbor for quite a while now through the use of a Belkin Extender set up as a WAP and it has been great! (With permission of course!) Anyway, a few days ago I realized that my normal extended WAP SSID was not broadcasting. I checked my Belkin extender and no led light. Needless to say it is completely dead. (Side note: second Belkin device I've had go dead in the water in the past month...) The extender I was using is the BELKIN Zigbee 2.4GHz ISM 802.11N Wireless Signal Extender. That is the model name but it did provide a 2.4 AND 5 ghz signal.
The router I am connecting to that is located at my neighbors house is the NETGEAR R6100 and that is all still working just fine. I can connect my computer to this router just fine with the wireless signal but the problem is I have a small network in my room that has all been relying on hard wired connections. This is how I like it due to some of the devices not having great signal reception. The Belkin extender had a female Ethernet port on it allowing me to connect to a switch and split the signal to all of my other devices.
Finally, the last piece of my question, I have an unused router/modem that was originally provided by Verizon. I know that it is the same hardware used in other standard routers, Texas Instruments CDC Ethernet/RNDIS Adapter. So im wondering if I can use this somehow to repeat the connection that I am using from next door, essentially to replace the Belkin extender, whether it is by possibly flashing different firmware, maybe firmware that may be used in a Linksys or NETGEAR type router, or by just altering settings through the admin portals.

MAIN QUESTION: Basically I am wondering if I can use what I have now, the Verizon provided "Texas Instruments CDC Ethernet/RNDIS Adapter" along with the NETGEAR R6100 to return my network to its prior state. I have seen similar circumstances through research and I am pretty sure it is ppossible but I need someone who really knows their stuff to give me some guidance. Please help and thank you for any advice you can offer!

P.S. - I'm trying to avoid having to use my main PC as a server making it necessary to leave it powered on all the time....

I hope the question is clear enough and if anyone thinks they may be able to help and needs more info please don't hesitate to ask.

Extra factors on main PC:
- Windows 8.1 pro
- Asus PCE-AC68 802.11ac Network adapter (WiFi NIiC)
- Intel Ethernet Connection 1217-V (NIiC)

Solution
If the Verizon device had a wireless extender function in it's options you can use it. If not, you need to get another extender. If it's the second one to die in a month, should be in warranty and you can get a replacement.
