Hey there... please help. Running latest beta 347.09 NVIDIA drivers and now i see that far cry 4 uses only 2800~MB of Memory and gtx 970 is 4gb..... Tried to roll back the drivers and still uses ~3gb.
If i switch to 4k Resolution (DSR) still uses that much.

Can u guys help me?

You can see in the image that currently is using 2788 with the 347.09 beta drivers.
If i roll back to latest normal drivers the memory usage is the same.

You do realize that even though it has 4 gigs, it doesn't have to utilize all 4 gigs to play a game right?

Say you have 256 gigabyte ram (yeye..) and a game uses 3,56 gigabyte only, and windows uses 1,2 gigabyte. Then you will use 4,76 gigabyte. Not because something is wrong, but simply because the game doesn't use more.

I don't believe it is an issue with your card but an issue with the game of course I could be incorrect but that's my best guess which in that case there's nothing you can do about it. Far Cry 4 does't run well on my GTX 680 either so probably just a game issue.

So i don't have to worry about it? Thx

What RAM are you looking at? Windows doesn't use 1.2 GB of VRAM, that's for sure.

Yes, the game will only use as much RAM as it's programmed to use. No game should be using all 4 GB.

Reread it mate. NOT vram, ram. :)

OP is asking about VRAM, not RAM.

Alright, I did not know this site was used by people with similar IQ to that of a primate.
So I will now slice and dice, oh sorry...

I will now explain it, so even an infant, I mean baby, can understand it:

A computer game will use up to a max amount of videoram, and ram. Both works the same way.
Now, The elder scrolls Skyrim can at most utilize 2 gb of vram (I have read.) in this case, if you have a computer with 12 gigabyte of vram, it will only use UP TO 2 gb of vram.

Now. Let's hypotetically (You do know this word right?) that a game at most can utilize 5 gigabytes of RAM, not VRAM, and you have 32 gigabytes. In this case, the game will still only utilize 5 gigabytes of ram, but due to the system, and different things on the pc, it may be using more than 5 gigabytes of ram, this does not mean it has to use all of the available ram that has been given to it.

The same rule for ram applies to vram in this way, it DOES NOT absolutely HAVE to utilize every single megabyte to run.
