Why is my laptop being really slow?

I've had this laptop for nearly 2 years and it's been perfectly fast until today. I have a Windows 8 Asus laptop but I don't know which type it is.

I checked my Norton Antivirus to see if has any viruses on but there's no viruses on here. What could be causing this? I haven't really got any slow-running programmes on here either that could contribute to the slowness of the laptop.

What is the exact laptop in question?
How long have you had norton? Uninstalling that crap will instantly boost your PC performance.
But, if you've had it for 2 years then I'm sure it wasn't an issue for you in the past.

Open up task manager (Ctrl+alt+dlt) and check the processes tab to see if there are any unkown programs taking up yur CPU

What CPU does it have? The laptop has multiple package options
And have you checked your processes?
