Hi all,

I am trying to overclock on the bios but the best i can go is 4.1Ghz. If i am using OC Genie then the computer keeps crashed. Then i overclock by increase the Core Multiplier from Auto to 41 x 100 = 4.1Ghz.
I would like to go higher then 4.2Ghz Please help me if anyone has done overclocked on this motherboard before.

Thank you very much.

What cooling are you running on your CPU? Have you tweaked your BCLK value?

If your temps are okay, try raising the voltage and see if the crashes continue to occur.

I have a Z97 PC Mate. Most people prefer OCing through the bios instead of software. I had mine stable at 4.35ghz at v1.22 (got pretty hot [80C] with my 212 evo), 4.2 at v1.1 with really low temps (>65C).

My over clock was a little weird though, and I don't know why I did it this way:

went 28 and 29 on the multiplier

turned base clock speed to 150mhz

my ram is 2400, so I kept it at base speed of 1600, and changing the processor base speed clocked it up to 2400. You can adjust this down based on your ram speed.

I think increases this high on the base proc speed might put more strain on the mobo chipset, but it seemed to work on my set-up just fine.

These chips can easily hit 4.3 with a decent air-cooler. Keep adding voltage and upping the speed until the temp becomes an issue.

Here is all my components:
MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate LGA1150 Motherboard (Paid $69 before $30 MIR at Frys)

Antec Kuhler H20 650 Universal Liquid Cooling System for Intel and AMD (Paid $39 before $20 MIR at Frys)

Intel G3528 $57 at Tigerdirect
16GB PNY DDR3 1600Mhz $124 at Amazon)
240Gb PNY SSD $69 at Tigerdirect
XFX TS Series P1550SXXB9 550W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Active PFC Power Supply $50.99 before $25 MIR at Newegg)

The temp is 27oC at Idle and 62oC at Full load with Prime95.

Please show me how to increase the voltage. ( This is my 1st time OC and i have no experiences on adjust voltage in Bios)

Your help is very appreciated.

Voltage is located towards the bottom of the OC menu in the UEFI. The only voltage you need to be concerned with is CPU Core Voltage. DO NOT EXCEED 1.3v. You should be in the range of 1.1-1.23 for a safe overclock temp-wise.

I got a zalman 110mm air cooler for 15 bucks off ebay that keaps my 3258 @ 72c full load with it running at 4.5ghz 1.380v. The max voltage you push and ultimately your max oc is contingent upon your cpu core temps. Intel says max temp for this processor is 90c and it will throttle down after that. My max clock I can get 4.7ghz @ a crazy 1.532v 90c max no throttle in prime 95 on heat workers. Of course the higher heat levels you maintain day to day the faster your components will wear out, so find balance, or choke mopre voltage down the cpu's gullet, either way have fun, and watch them temps.
