Hey all,

This is my first time building a computer with hand picked parts, and before I bought everything I just wanted to make sure I didn't get anything that won't work together. Do you see any glaring issues with the following build? I want to build something that will last me a while, hovering around a 800-1k budget. The parts will be bought over the next few months. I left out the more obvious things, like keyboard, monitor, optical drive, etc.

Case - BitFenix Shinobi ATX Mid Tower
MB - Gigabyte GA Z97X
GPU - GTX 970 4gb
RAM - 2x 4gb
PSU - SeaSonic M12II 620 W (already purchased)
CPU - i7 4790K
HDD - 1TB Western Digital Blue
Possible SSD - Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5"

Probably go with Windows 8, I guess

i don't see any issues. the psu you have is a good one and will run it all with no issues. to save a few dollars, the i7 is not really needed for gaming and an i5-4690k would do just as well for you. other than that, you're looking good.

Don't bother with the SSD, they aren't worth it for how much they cost.
Do you know how to use windows 8? are you familiar with it? windows 7 is so much easier to use
Can you give us an exact model of ram you are getting? as DDR4 and DDR2 ram won't work with your MoBo
