Hi,
I've ordered the following parts:
i7 4790k
Corsair Vengeance Pro (2400)
Asus Maximus VII Ranger
I am seeing some conflicting views on the internet about if this CPU can support 2400Mhz memory. Some say that it will while others say that it's just luck of the draw if a given CPU supports overclocked memory. If I enable XMP in the Bios, should this allow the memory to run at the advertised speed with no problems? If so, is there more than one XMP setting and if there is, which one would be best? And, if I won't be able to run the memory at 2400 speed, will I be able to run it at 1600 speed with no problems?
Also, please bare in mind that this is my first PC build so I'm not fully in-tune with all the technical language.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I'm not looking to overclock the CPU right away, as someone completely knew to building PCs.
