Hi, today I upgraded my GPU to an MSI R9 290, it was running fine for a couple of hours, but now my PC restarts every 15 minutes or so, without any reason or error message.

The specs are:

Windows 8.1 64 BIT

AMD FX-6100 PSU
MSI R9 290 GPU
8GB DDR3 666MHz RAM
ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard
Corsair CXM 750W PSU

Solution
Disconnect your OS drive and see if it posts - loads bios OK and it doesn't crash.

If that's not OK, use the post/beep code to home in on what hardware is faulty.

But if it's OK, then do a Checkdisk with Repair and Virus Scan (eg Avast, Malwarebytes) on your OS drive

Then start in Safe Mode (F8 per http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode#1TC=windows-7) and do a Computer Repair. If that doesn't work try a Last Known Good Configuration (System Restore).

If that doesn't work, back up your data then do a Windows re-install and re-install all the drivers and the apps then copy the data back.

Yeah, but it restarts on the desktop, even when the gpu is idle
