I just replaced my old 650TI with a ASUS R9 270X DIRECTCU II

On startup I get nothing, no display output whatsoever.

The motherboard is an old lenovo 7033a2u

I have a 700w power supply so that shouldn't be the problem, the graphics card does have power, the fans spin and the LEDS are green.

I'm pretty certain it must be the motherboard, I already updated my BIOS to the latest version, any suggestions?
(apart from buying a new mobo, i already have one just awaiting a new BIOS chip from the manufacturer that works with my new CPU)

Solution

So you tried an analog output and nothing came up?. Make sure you are using the DVI port closest to the HDMI port as that is DVI-I which is capable of running analog signals with the d-sub adaptor. I know it sounds stupid but give it a try if you haven't already see if you get a post.

Good Luck.

hdmi to hdmi to my tv (my normal setup), but i also tried using d-sub to a normal pc monitor (with a dsub to dvi converter that came with my old graphics card)

i dont think it's the connection to the tv as when i power down the system it turns off instantly asif its still in bios as opposed to taking about 10 seconds to shut down windows.

im hoping its my crappy mobo and not a DOA graphics card =/

The PSU has 2 12v+ rails running at 25A each, it has 2 PCIe plugs, it is a kentek gl ktps 700, I've been running it pretty much 24/7 for over a year with no problems.
I updated the BIOS to the latest version.

The only thing that's still left of the prebuilt is the mobo and processor I upgraded the hdd, memory and GPU (650ti) and it all worked without a hitch, that being said maybe I just got lucky on those parts. Honestly I'm not too bothered if the motherboard is the problem as I have a new mobo, processor, ram and ssd (essentially a new pc) ready for the GPU to be fitted but I'm awaiting a BIOS chip from the manufacturer to get it all up and running. I just wanted to plug in the GPU to my old system while I waited on the BIOS chip and got scared that the GPU didn't work. I guess we will just have to see when the BIOS chip arrives =[
