Thoughts on PC build

Hello, I am a new forum member and I need some thoughts on if this set up will be good enough for me. This is a build I created and is an AMD/ASUS/Corsair/Western Digital build. Just need thoughts if the following set up can play GTA IV, and Garry's Mod (Terrorist Town) for example with a decent frame rate on decent graphic qualities. I am also taking CAD classes and am looking into purchasing software and researching cards to run. Thanks!

Mobo: Asus A88X-Plus
APU: Unlocked AMD A10 7700K Black box with R7 Radeon series graphics
RAM: Corsair 1x4GB (will upgrade. Mono upgradable to 64gb)
PSU: Corsair CX750

Solution
The A10 will never be very good @ 1080p. You could run most games on low settings and maybe average 30fps.

You would be better off getting an Athlon x4 750k/760k/860k and a R7 260/260x/265 or GTX750/750ti

Even the $60 Pentium g3258 plus one of the above mentioned cards would be better.

Well you got something good there. But I suggest get a CPU and GPU seperatetly would be better for you as if you plan to upgrade your PC in future.
You can run Gta IV on Medium to High Setting with around 60-70 FPS.
Tell me your budget , I'll get you a better PC.

I'm looking into around $400. I've used Intel based computers all my life until around a couple of months ago when I got a 7 year old HP laptop with an AMD that out performs my 6 year old Toshiba Satellite and even my dad's 3 year old Samsung i7 laptop. It will burry those systems and I want to try an AMD platform. I am thinking maybe later on I will build an Intel system just because I like thinking about arranging builds together. Also I forgot to mention that DDR3 speeds do play a factor in frame rates for games. So if I were to get 2400MHz Ram and overclock it would it give better performance? I have also taken into consideration about over clocking the GPU cores and CPU cores with a better cooling system. Could this work?

Yes RAM is everything to integrated graphics. Performance would be terrible with 1X4GB RAM. You need to use dual channel at least 1866mhz.

I still maintain that even under the best possible circumstances, the A10 is not a viable option for 1080p.

Ok, I don't exactly have that good of a monitor anyway lol. I can always stick to 720p. Later down the road could I run a better PCI Express card and run full 1080p at decent frame rates?

Ok that's good. I just kinda want something to kick start. I figured I would go with the A10 since it has integrated graphics. I can live with 720p on medium to high settings for a while. When it comes time maybe I'll just switch to an AM3+ board and run an FX processor. Thank you for your help. The main purpose of this will not to game so I think I can live with simmered down graphic options.

I actually own an A10-6800k and I know what it's capable of. It's better than people think, but I didn't want you to set your expectations too high.

The AM3+ platform is old NOW. It's only going to get older. I don't recommend it now, and I sure as **** won't recommend it for an upgrade in the future. I just wanted to throw that out there.

Ok CTurbo just one last question, how does running the Athlon X4 and a separate card have an advantage over the A10 and a graphics card? Less heat and power, right? Does it show better performance? Also would I be better with the Athlon 760 because it is the fastest clocked?

I mean the A10 + a PCI-e Graphics card vs the Athlon with a PCI-e card. Now is there a way that if I buy a dedicated card with the A10 that the Radeon cores in the APU will work with the card so I get the combined power of the two? I already ordered everything so I will get all of my components in time for the holiday ;)

Ok thanks. I looked it up and the R7 270x seems to play GTA 4 flawlessly. Would I have to worry about bottle necking and get an Athlon or should I be fine with the A10?

So I got everything together today and I quickly ran to Microcenter last night and grabbed a 2x8GB set of Crucial Ballistic DDR3. I put it together and am typing on it now. Its running Windows 8 x64 and everything is smooth. The Radeon graphics in the APU are actually very good. I was so far able to play Slender and GMod at 1080p ranging around 50-60fps. I love this PC and it looks nice.
