Yo.

I bought a third stick of ram today, now I have 2x2gb and 1x4gb.

And here's the deal. I don't know what is causing this but PC won't work with the 3 sticks in place. Regardless of whether I fill two orange ones or two black ones and then put the remaining stick somewhere else. Am I doing smth wrong or is this motherboard incapable of using single stick in a slot?

Manufacturers match, all sticks were made by kingston and all sticks work normally. I would like to use 8gbs of ram instead of 6gb.

Have you tried each stick individually? I notice that board requires DDR3. Make sure some of them aren't DDR2. Also, it is never a good idea to mix and match RAM due to compatibility issues like the one you are having, even with the same manufacturer. Don't be surprised if you never get them working in tandem.

Well I am certain none are broken if this is what you are asking. The new ram I bought is ddr3 and also it works with one 2gb stick, I dunno if it works on its own, but it definitely should.

By mixing, do you mean putting 4gfbs next to 2gbs?

By mixing, I mean getting anything that isn't the same make/model/capacity. I would try each stick individually to make sure they are all compatible with your board. That's still not a guarantee that they will be compatible with each other though. You may have to choose which ones to install.

Well yes, I figured I need to choose two and buy another one to have working 4 sticks. I was just wondering if its something caused by bios or voltage, I have read on this forum that people had similar problems and were recommended the updates.

But how to upgrade bios for this mobo if the Asus only has updates up to win7?
