On my new computer i'm getting it doesn't have an OS. So I was considering purchasing Windows 8. However it costs around £80 which I can't get for quite some time. I've heard you can get the disc download onto a USB which solves that problem. However I don't have a product key, is there any way to get one cheaper priced or for free?

Solution
No. Downloading the ISO onto a USB stick just means that you don't need a DVD drive, not that you don't need a product key.

You have three options:
  • ■Buy Windows.
■Use the Windows 10 Preview. Free, but you'll need to install a new OS once 10 comes out, because the license expires.
    ■Use a free OS.

You could always grab the Windows 10 Technical Preview for now. You can use it free of charge until sometime next year. Eventually, you will have to either buy it or remove it from your system though. Keep in mind that it is a work in progress, so there may be bugs, etc... It could help you determine if you just want to wait for Windows 10 though.
