GPU Issue. Unable to install the drivers

Hi!
I bought a lenovo z50 laptop. It had preinstalled windows 8.1. I formatted it and installed windows 7.
However, once I installed 7, I wasn't able to install my graphics card (which is 840m) drivers. The Device Manager does not shows it either.
I tried automatic updates, unhiding any hardware from CMD.
No success.
Any suggestions?

Hi, Is there a setting in BIOS that sets the PCIe as primary graphics device?

First go to intel's site and download intel hd graphics driver (which is probably HD 4400 in your case) or see if it is available with any driver cd given with the laptop. Install the intel driver.
Restart.
Then install nvidia driver. You should be fine. Give an update if possible.

I did installed the intel vga drivers. Still when trying to install the GPU's drivers, I wasn't able to do so. It states, the software is not compatiable with the version of windows and not compatible with the hardware.
I downloaded the new drivers for my GPU, still no luck.

No bios settings to set GPU as primary. There's a setting where in it ask you to set graphics settings as Discrete or keep it default to Intel's GPU.

I think I understood your problem.
You are trying to install the software provided with the laptop or downloaded from Lenovo's site, right ?
Do not install that. Download intel driver from intel's site and Nvidia driver from Nvidia's site by choosing your graphics card model and OS manually. Install those drivers and your problem should be solved.
Give an update if possible.

I tried that as well before comming here, still after installing VGA drivers from Intels site, I am unable to install my 840M drivers.
Just an update, the Device manager shows 3D controller in "others" field. When I try to install drivers choosing to download from internet, nothing happens.

Download this small program called Speccy from this link
https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/standard
Give a screenshot of the Summary and Graphics section shown in the software.
Also give the exact name of the driver you have downloaded from Nvidia.
Also run this IFixit from microsoft and then try to install the drivers

Hi, I have the same problem. My Bios doesn't have that setting and my Intel HD graphics 4400 is installed, but Windows can't install my NVidia/3D graphic controller driver, it gives an error. Please help, thanks.
