So I ordered a club3d r9 270 14series graphics card and learned its output is dual-link dvi-i but my monitor's output is dual-link dvi-d. Are they compatible without having to use some sort of adapter? If so, which cable should I buy? A dvi-d or dvi-i? I think the dvi-d but i'm not 100% sure. Thanks.

If you look at the connector you will see that the DVI-I dual link is a SUPERSET of DVI-D. You should be able to use a dual link DVI-D cable (which should have come with your monitor).
