Upgrading mother without reinstalling win?

Hello... Plug in your OS hardrive and see if it boots to Windows... Sometimes it does. Then all you have to do is un-install your previous MB chipset drivers and install the new ones.
I was successful recently with a P35 Q9550 to Q77 i7 3770... Boot into Windows 7 Pro... just needed the new Chipset MB drivers. Too make things easier on the Booting OS, disable all the LAN, Audio Devices, in the MB BIO's if they are different chips than your OLD MB.

My recommendation is not to try.... However you can use sysprep to clear out all your old driver information before the upgrade and it should work okay.

Just wanted to add that technically this is what sysprep was more or less designed to do... however this is also a great excuse to do a fresh install of windows so it's up to you.

If it boots and you are able to just install the new MB drivers it may work. But it will run worse then if you just did a fresh install, and errors will keep popping up constantly until you do a fresh install. Doubt it will work though.

Hello... Then give my suggestion a try... You will know the Answer very quick if it is a option for you.
Another option is to Buy a new 128gb SSD or hardrive, and just do a new OS install on it, so you don't have to Lose your DATA on the other one.
