Intel Core i7 4790k Installation Questions

Hi! I have an i7 4790k that i just recieved and its brand new. I want to put it in my rig as soon as possible.... But i have a question: if i install it into the motherboard, put the thermal compound on it and install the pump/water block of my nepton 240m on it and leave it for a little bit until i get my video card and monitor in a few weeks time or less, will something go wrong? What i mean is will the compound dry up or something? Please help.

Well, will it hurt it? Because it won't be a really long time before i get the last few parts (ex. Video card and monitor) and get the system up and running.

Prebuilt OEM systems sit for months even years waiting for people to buy them and they preserve just fine. It's a computer were talking about not a bag of fruit.
