ok so I just bought a new motherboard for my pc. I went from the ASUS M5A97 R2.0

TO THE

msi 970 gaming am3+ motherboard

I'm looking at buying new ram. As I've got some extra cash. and could use an upgrade. I'm currently running 8GB g skill sniper 1866 was looking at buying

16GB g skill trident 2133 as shown above. would that be an upgrade ? or is there a diffrent set of ram someone would recommend ? or should I order the trident ?

You got a very solid system here. CPU is fine, RAM is fine. Graphics card is very good if you play at 1920x1080. If you absolutely need an upgrade, upgrade the SSD: get Samsung 840 EVO 250GB. You could use this one to install several games as well and get a big boost in level loading / game startup. The second potential candidate is graphics card, but the only reasonable upgrades are Nvidia GTX 970/980 or Radeon 280X/290/290X. And they are not quite cheap.
Please provide complete specs, sir. It's hard to tell at this point, but my first thought is that the money would be better spent elsewhere. 8GB is more than enough for gaming, so a better graphics card or an SSD might yield much more all-around performance.
