FX-6300 or FX-8350 or i5 4440

Hello I am thinking about upgrading my AMD Athlon X4 760K to a new CPU, and I do know that if I upgrade to either an FX-6300 or an i5 4440 I will need a new motherboard, and I am wondering whether the i5 4440 is worth the extra $90 than the FX-6300 or the extra $10 of the FX-8350

For gaming, it is definitely worth it. Go for i5.

if i were you, i'd keep the 760k and save your upgrade for a GPU.

I was told to upgrade my CPU before my GPU because my CPU will bottleneck some good GPU's by the way I have an R9 270

Since you will need to replace your motherboard either way, just go with an Intel system.

Best and cheap don't necessarily go together, but the MSI H81M-P33 would meet your requirements. If you can afford to spend a bit more, then check for a B85 or an H97 motherboard.

If you want to overclock, go with a Z97 board. If you aren't worried about overclocking or getting a K series CPU, then an H97 should work just fine.

As for which board, IMO, Asus makes great boards and I push those in my store. However, they are all generally very close in price/performance and features regardless of manufacturer, with the exception of low end MSI, those are junk.

The MSI H81M-P33 is not junk and Tom's been using it for this build: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-budget-gaming-pc,3943.html A $100 Assu H97 motherboard would obviously offer more features and be of higher quality, but the cost difference may be important to the OP. I never buy low-end motherboards, but I don't presume they're not good.

I personally dont build with assumption that the components I am buying will get better in the future, because realistically you will have upgraded by then. Build for the present, and the best choice at the present is Intel so go for an i5.
