How to transfer all data including os from an old Hard Drive to a new SSD?

I recently just bought a 512 gb SSD and I want to transfer all of my music files, videos, documents, Steam games and OS from my old drive to my new SSD.

Multiple considerations here.

Disclaimer: I always recommend a clean install on a new SSD.

1. How big is the old hard drive, and how much space is used on it?
2. How old is that install?
3. Which OS?

As USARET mention a clean install is best but I use a PROGRAM called EASE US PARTION works well for me and its free.

My old hard drive is 500 gb and used 322 gb. My OS is Windows 8.1

Well, I'd really recommend a clean install on the new drive.

But any of the clone applications should work. The above mentioned Easus, or CloneZilla, DriveimageXLM would also work.
