Cloning Raid 10 to single Samsung Evo 840

Recently installed an Evo 840 in my laptop and cloned the old HDD using Samsung's migration software with perfect results. Now I want to do the same with my desktop but that might be more difficult. That is clone the Raid 10 on my desktop onto a new computer with a single Evo SSD of greater capacity. Firstly is this possible? Secondly, if not with Samsung's software is another software cloning package an option? I know I should do a clean install but the thought horrifies me. Desktop uses Asus P6X58D Mobo with onboard Intel Raid, Intel I7 processor and 4xWD 150gb Raptors. Asked Samsung but never got a reply. Any advice much appreciated.

possible, but you have to tell windows to expect the OS on a non raid volume, i.e. the ahci drivers and not the raid drivers

Try Paragon's SSD migration tool, I think it can do that. I've never used the Samsung one, but it probably can too.

Just make sure to enable ACHI in your Windows registry before cloning it. This article explains how to do that: http://www.data-medics.com/how-to-enable-ahci-after-installing-windows.html

And switch your BIOS setting from RAID to ACHI after the switch.

Why does a clean OS install horrify you? It's a pretty painless process.

I went from a pile of boxes, teaching a 10 year old how to build a PC, new OS install, Windows updates, applications....
Started Sunday afternoon, finishing Tuesday evening.
