Wireless devices losing connection to internet (but not LAN)

Hello,

I have Comcast service with a Zoom modem/router. Every once in a while, devices connected by wireless to the modem will lose the ability to connect to the internet even while they are on the network. If I try to ping outside the network I get "reply from (current computer): destination net unreachable."

Even more troubling, if I disconnect from the router and immediately reconnect then the internet works.

This happens at random intervals, sometimes a few dozen hours between losses, sometimes 5 minutes.

I don't think there's any problem with the internet signal coming in. And I don't think it has to do with the computers as it has happened on 4 different devices including Windows, Android and OS X.

Is there something in the router that could be causing this?

Solution
You could try a different wireless channel on the router. Go into your router's web-based configuration utility, go to the wireless section and change the channel to a number between 8 & 12 (channel 12 not available in some countries). Then apply or save.
