I have been having some instability issues and I noticed my bios is pretty old. I have 0603 and it's on 0802...You should always keep the bios up to date on a motherboard right?

Reading in the booklet they have this feature to flash it with a USB..Basically you put the Bios on the flash drive, plug it in. Press the flash button and it does it.

For the people familiar with this board, can I go straight from 0603 to 0802? Or do I have to go up incrementally?

What format does the flash drive have to be? Fat 32?

I read all these warnings about the danger of bricking your computer if you do this wrong. I don't understand what I could possibly do to mess this up. Simply you rename a file, put it on the card..plug in and press a button. So I don't get what the big fear is.

Solution
1. download bios 901.
2. download bios renamer and drop it into the same folder as the bios and run the renamer.
3. copy renamed bios file to usb stick that fat32 formated.
4. put usb stick in the usb flashback port and with the power off push the usb flashback button.
5. the flashback light will run for a few min and turn off then your done.

Its actually like 0902 now or something...EZ Flash in the bios? Why would I need more control? I have no idea what I'm doing anyway. Is it safer to do EZ Flash in the bios? How do I access the bios? Is there some good tutorial on this?

Shouldn't I update my bios for simple maintenance on my system whether there is a problem or not? I am like 4 versions behind, and all the updates say stability improvements.

As far as my issues. Basically Blue Screen of Death Errors. When I seemed to fix one of them a few more happen. Also when I play video games they crash and I get some kind of Direct X error. When all of my video card drivers and etc are all up to date. Furthermore, I was having some not waking up out of sleep mode issues. That I put a thread up here, and they recommended updating the bios then. It all sounds like driver issues all around.

As far as troubleshooting, I did the SFC scan fix and DISM scan and it successfully repaired broken files. I fully scanned my machine with malware-bytes in regular mode and safe mode. No malware at all. I also did a full scan with windows defender. nothing. It just seems all I have left is to do a bios update..

Here is my thread on this forum detailing some of my issues, as well as my bleeping computer one as well. Let me know your thoughts. I am on New York time and I need to get some sleep. Thanks!

This video is for the rampage IV I have the V, would it be different? Also, in this video, the guy says it is impossible to brick your motherboard if you do it this way...is that true? That sounds way safer then the Bios.

I read somewhere to try driver verifier that is built into windows since a lot of my errors were driver related. That didn't work and now my system won't boot. It just blue screens so fast I can't see the error and then goes into recovery. I can boot into safe mode. Please help.

To update - I did the repair option from the recover advanced options menu and that fixed it to the point I can boot normally. What is my next step. Clearly there is something driver related going on here. Will updating my bios help that? What about my start up disk. Do I need to update firmware? How would I be able to tell what firmware is installed on my Crucial SSD?

"I followed all the steps in my users manual but when I press the flash button it flashes a couple times but then stays fully lit. In the manual it says the light will shut off when done. I even tried turning the computer on and my bios was exactly the same old version, so it's definitely not workin."

Not sure why you don't use that application in BIOS. It's so simple.
It might not solve the issue, but it will update the BIOS for sure.

Edit. I probably insist too much. Sorry, I promise that this is my last post. Good luck!

Hey guys, so I power cycled my power supply and that got my motherboard to behave normally. I did the update to the bios, and I haven't had a blue screen since. which is about 6 hours of straight usage so far. I played Dragon Age Inquisition and even when I wasn't playing I just let it run to see if it crashes, because that was one of the games that kept blue screening. Idk what fixed this problem. The repairing of my hard drive or the bios update. I am guessing the bios issues was just causing all the corruptions of these files from the start. Just curious in the future if this happens again, what would be the next step? ALSO, now that my motherboard is acting normal would it be okay now to play with the ASUS graphic tweaks and push my video cards, or maybe even try some of the EZ overclocking turbo boost modes? Or should I just leave that stuff alone?
