No video output from graphics card

I recently bought a Club 3D HD 7950 13' series, with the purpose of crossfiring it with my old video card, a Club 3D HD 7950.

However, every time I place the new card into my Motherboard, attach the power cables and turn on my computer, my monitor says "no signal". The GPU fans do start spinning, there is just no picture. The same applies to when I run the cards in a crossfire setup: no video output.

I don't believe my motherboard nor my PSU are the problem, because my old Club 3D HD 7950 works fine.

Also, the GPU does not seem to be defect, as it did work in my friend's computer.

I've tried different cables (HDMI, DVI and VGA), different monitors, reinserting the RAM-sticks, resetting CMOS, reinstalling the drivers, a different hard drive disk with a different OS (Vista) and messed around in the BIOS trying to find a solution.

But sadly I have not been able to find a solution and I have no idea what to try next.

Please help, thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply.

With my new video card plugged in, my monitor does not get a signal. I can't see anything and therefore I can't reach my desktop and install any drivers.

Not 100% sure if the PSU can power both cards, but it should be enough to power at least 1 card.

The card wasn't shipped to me. I picked it up at his parent's house and did not get to see it running. He assured me it worked before he pulled the card out of his system. To be sure, I will presonally test the card in the system of another friend.

It is possible the card was dead already or died during transport from his pc to mine, but if I power it up, the fans do start spinning and I even felt the card getting warm. So it's doing something, just no video output...

I have tried that already, but it does not work. As soon as the new graphics card is installed in my pc, my pc loses signal with the monitor.

Try connecting your monitor cable to the other card.

I assume you mean when both cards are installed in the computer.

I have already tried that. It does not work. It is weird, because my old graphics card works perfectly fine, but with both cards installed, my old card also loses signal with my monitor. So when together, both cards have no video output.

I'm starting to think it's a dead card also. Definitely try it in another system as 4745454b suggested to isolate if it is the card or another problem somewhere else.

Yeah, I will try it in another system.

Thanks for replying to my post

I finally got it to work!

The video card worked in my friend's computer, so it isn't broken or anything. Again, I looked all over the internet trying to find a solution and stumbled upon a forum with someone who had a similar problem. People suggested it might be a software problem.

I decided to install the graphics card and booted Windows in safe mode, and it suddenly worked! After that I got it to work too in "normal mode", so problem solved!

Probably should have done that earlier, but I'm not that experienced when it comes to this stuff :p

Thanks guys for taking your time to help me!
