Hi,

I have just installed G.Skill 32gb 2400mhz CL10 ram.

Running on its xmp profile 1 (ram at full speed) It doesn't even get 1 second into a cpu burn tests before total shutdown not even blue screen.

I currently have the DRAM voltage in my bios set to 1.5 but the ram is 1.65. I just want to check first, should I change this? Dram is ram voltage right? What other setting might i need to change?

I can overclock cpus but never had much practice with ram not sure at all what to do. Should i put it at 1333mhz and test it to see if there okay or something first? mostly I just want to know if its the lack of volts and if so where do I change that? is it DRAM voltage? Thanks!!

P.S I'm running an 4790k @4.8ghz on a m-atx motherboard.

Okay so not as simple as I thought, I have changed the voltage to 1.65 It still crashes the pc after about 4-5 seconds. I have tried changing the ram to 1333 and it still crashes after the same amount of time. I checked the cpu temps and they where reaching 90 degrees just before the crash. I would say normally they reach 60 during a standard intel burn test. Possibly 65-70. I just re did the thermal paste and seated the water block again and no change what so ever. Any adivce as to what might be suddenly causing the cpu to overheat?

Ow and I also reduced my overclock and it didn't help at all. I might understand if I was running at 2400 mhz and the extra load caused my cpu to run at a higher temp but even at 1333 its way toooo high. Could it just be bad luck and I didnt do the thermal right twice in a row? Also the thermal paste is about a month old but it had the lid on properly.

I have just tried reducing my overclock drastically to 4.4ghz and Its running at 80 degrees on the cpu but stable. I changed my water and pipes in my water loop but I cant think that anything I did would change the temps that drastically. After Christmas I will get some more thermal paste and try doing the water block again but not sure that's the problem as I tried already twice. I'm pretty lost with this really unsure why its working so badly. I tired running the ram at both 1.5 and 1.65 and both don't change the cpu temps.

1.36 :(. I'm guessing thats just a bit too high then. I did think it was stable before but I was mostly doing tests with OCCT rather than IBT and I think IBT runs the cpu a lot hotter.

I have it stable now at 4.4ghz on a very quick overclock with the ram at 2400mhz.

I will just try and keep the voltage lower than 1.3 and push it as high as it can go before overheating. I'm running a full water loop so I thought It could manage the heat a bit better :(

Edit: Took everything to bits and resembled and it after taking the cmos battery out and it worked. Must have done something wrong maybe shorted a connection on the motherboard or something.

So normally I cant access the bios when i'm using a display port cable. So instead I decided to just swap it out for an HMDI cable. When I restarted the computer I could get anywhere. So I tried the display port again. But i cant get into the OS or BIOS. There is no video output at all. But it looks like its booting into windows 7 from what I can see from the keyboard and mouse etc. I am working my way through the troubleshooting page on here but I'm avoiding taking my water loop out as I only just put it back together so doing everything I can before then. I don't have a clue whats going wrong with my pc now. It worked so well for months and now like 10 problems all at once.

Any advice? I'm going to reset the Cmos in a second.
