I got a Segate Backup Plus slim portible hard drive and it works in USB 2.0 ports but not USB 3.0 ports. When I put it into a USB 3.0 port windows displays an error message, and the drive does not even power on.
Other divices work on the USB 3.0 ports, but these are all USB 2.0. I have not tried a USB 3.0 divice, but I had one in a day or two ago, and I have not done anything major to my PC since then except installing a mouse, and that was on a USB 2.0 port.
I could possible try it on another Windows install if it seems to be a driver problem.
Thank you for your help and Merry Christmas!
