Dragon Age Inquisition low fps GTX 860M

I think im getting lower fps in Dragon Age Inquisition then i really should be. Friend of mine has about the same specs as me and is playing high/ultra, while im stuck on medium. I play most games on high/ultra. why am i getting 30 fps (if that). confused. Assistance or/and advice greatly appreciated.

Yes he has a laptop as well. Am i correct in thinking something is wrong here?

I own the game on console and honestly don't know how it fares on PC, but I haven't seen nor read too much fuss about the port. IMO, with a 860M you shouldn't max things out, but you should be more than capable of high details.

When you talk about a laptop, however, the most common issue is Optimus/Enduro taking the lead and running the game on the integrated Intel HD GPU rather than the discrete Nvidia/AMD.

Since you only answered one of the two questions, I'll ask again. Are you absolutely sure you're using the discrete GPU and not the integrated one?
 


I doubt very much you could play on high with that laptop. I play on high with 680 sli. Your system couldn't compete with mine, unless you figure on playing at a lower resolution or sub 30 FPS.

1080p high settings on a 860m nets an ave. of 27 FPS.

Sorry. Well ive set it to use the dedicated in nvidia control panel.

Damn, well i guess thats where im at. This game is way more intensive then it should be.
