Yes, with a good overclock it can square off against the newest of processors. I have one overclocked to 3.8GHz and it 3DMark benchmarked higher than my Haswell i7 @ 4.2GHz on the same GTX Titan. I haven't actually tried it with the latest games so can't answer there.
