Can a Dell dimension E520 handle 1 terabyte

My mother has a Dimension E520 and I bought her a new hard drive. Its an older PC with Vista on it and I would like to upgrade her to XP Professional or Windows 7 Home Premium. She had 260 GIG and it has a problem so I bought a new 1 Terabyte for it and I was wondering if its compatible or not. I will appreciate any heads up.

It should work, if SATA ports available on the motherboard. Connect it, boot from the old HDD and in Disk management right click the new one, initialize and format it.

you can use either SATA1 or SATA2 hard drives and there's no limit on the size of the drives.SATA 2 1 TB hard disk is available and compatible with your system......

Technically, drives above 2 TB tend to complicate things when used as a boot drive - partition map wise in Windows
