R9 270x causing loss of power to all usb and keyboard

Hello to you all and merry Christmas.
So I have received my new card,I removed the previous graphics card gtx460se drivers then removed the card.
I fitted my new r9 270x
A gigabyte version and with the two 6 pin power convectors in, it seems to cut off power to all of the USB ports and the keyboard , I have no screen and the pc will not boot .
Im not a total novice but this has me stumped

Hi and thanks for your reply,
My psu is a 650w corsair , I have also checked all conrctors and refitted 3 times . I have also refitted the old 460se graphics card and it works ok

humm, well if you could let a friend test the card or the shop you got it from, it's the easiest and fastest thing you could do. If it failed then it's the card's fault, if it didn't then we will see more :)

I don't have a friend close by to test and it was mail order , it's got me boing mad .
If I plug the r9 270x in to the motherboard but don't plug the 6 pin power plugs in it still starts and runs through the onboard grphics, as soon as I plug the power in I loose usb and keyboard power the screen is black and it won't start
