Hello guys! Name's Pau.

About 3 or 4 days ago I upgraded my gpu to a GTX970 and checking my pc specs due to some trouble with some games, I noticed my cpu (Intel core i7 3770) has something weird.

Cpu-Z says the following cores 1 threads 2
Can you run it (wasn't sure what to use) shows this regarding my cpu

Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Manufacturer: Intel
Speed: 3.4 GHz
Category: High Performance
Generation: 10th
Brand: Core i7 3rd Gen
Cores: 2

And the weird stuff, is that after doing a lot of research, all I could find is that the i7 3770 is a quad core cpu.

Any clue guys?

Adding the rest of my system here in case it's needed.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Manufacturer Intel
Speed 3.4 GHz
Number of Cores 2
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Manufacturer NVIDIA
Chipset GeForce GTX 970
Dedicated Memory 3.1 GB
Total Memory 4.0 GB
Memory 8.1 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Edition (build 9200), 64-bit
Service Pack 0
Size 64 Bit
Edition Professional
Display Maximum Resolution 1920 x 1080

Not sure if this helps, but Far Cry 4 for example only works with quad cores, and won't work in my system.

Solution
Hello everyone! I solved it!

I was starting to get desperate cause the bios resolution was too big and i couldnt see it all, but after all it had nothing to do with the bios.

I'll write down what I did just in case someone else has this problem, and for those who took the time to answer me.

The solution was as follows:

Msconfig > Boot > Advanced > Uncheck "Number of Processors"

A big thank you to all of you who answered, and to this awesome forum for your attention! :wahoo:

Hello, just ran Real Temp, pressed Sensor Test and it gave me that:

(since I cant copy paste I'll write it down myself)

core/movement: core0 /6 core1 / nothing core2 /nothing core3 /nothing

edit: I downloaded prime 95 and I'm running it's test atm

I can't answer that question as you never provided any info about your motherboard and the UEFI BIOS is specific to your motherboard. As an example on a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI, when the BIOS screen is displayed, I need to press F2 and then select M.I.T. to display the CPU information.

Sorry! My motherboard is an ASUS p8h61-mx usb3.

I'll check my BIOS asap, I'm kinda busy atm :)

As for the question i asked before, should i look for something to enable the cores from there? What if I dont see none?

Will report what I found in the BIOS whenever I have a moment to do it!

Hello GhislainG, sorry for answering 5 days later!

Honestly, I can't tell. When I upgraded this pc for the first time, I got my motherboard, cpu and ram in a physical store cause I wasn't sure I could manage myself, so everything was installed there. My guessing is that for some reason they checked that, cause I had never messed with msconfig before.

But you know, thats just a guess, don't think i'll ever know heheh.

Happy new year in advance everyone! :wahoo:
