fx 8350 compatible with my pc setup

i currently have an fx 4100 and a gigabyte 78-lmt motherboard with a 500w power supply will my new processor be compatible with all of this other stuff thanks in advance.

my gpu is a gigabyte R9 270X 4GB

and you say it is compatible well when i put it in earlier after about 10 mins there was a big bang, sparks and a funny smell and it has fried my power supply and possibly something else any idea why this happened?

I looked up your otherboard and it said that it supports the FX-8350 and I provided a link for it. I said a 500W PSU was fine so long it was from a reputable brand (i.e. Corsair, Seasonic, XFX etc.). What was the brand of your PSU?

Thanks johnny. I'm sure I had it installed properly as i followed the instructions to install it that were on the AMD youtube channel. so yeah i think it was that my power supply thanks for everyone's replys guys

I think we can limit it down to the PSU, xjacksssss said he was using it for 10 minutes until it failed. It's most likeyl a cheap (nameless) brand.

Thanks guys, going to replace it with a corsair do you think that the processor has been fried or might it be ok.
