So recently I got my hands on an Aerocool V12XT, and decided to install it. After installing it, I decided to try it out. And now the PC won't turn on. I checked all of my connections, I didn't see anything wrong. I'll go more into description if you ask (more than likely I will post the steps I took and I'll post pictures).

Yes I left the CPU fans in as I didn't have enough channels on the fan controller for them. Any other suggestions? I'm using an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 mobo. Do you think it suffered electrical damage? That could be possible as I was wearing pajamas when installing the fan controller, and I didn't have an ESD wrist band on. When I press the power button on the mobo, I can hear my PSU click as if it were to turn on, the fans budge a little bit and nothing happens after that. Also, the LAN lights are on.

So after realizing that it was something to do with the fan controller, I forced it to boot up by mashing the clear CMOS button. After soon doing that, the computer turned on and started spewing smoke. I instantly yanked out the power cord, and vented out the smoke. The power wire to the fan controller was melted and burnt up, realizing that the cord was faulty. So now that I took out the power cord for the fan controller, the computer turns on and the Dr Debug light gives me a "d7" error. They say online that means that you don't have a keyboard hooked up, which I don't atm.

So I removed the fan controller from the computer and the rig booted up into windows 10. So I'm gonna take the fan controller back to where I bought it and get an entirely different fan controller, one that won't attempt to burn my house down :p.

So now I'm trying to see what is suspect for what caused the smoking. The 4 pin IDE power connector coming from the power supply only has 3 pins, it has a missing 4th one. Do you think that has anything to do with this? Or was it the fan controller's power connector having a bad connection? I'll post a picture of the burnt wire and everything else.

Notice how one part of this wire is not burnt (I was connected to the one on the left, not right)

Here is the connector that goes to the PSU. Do you think the fact that this is only has 3 pins instead of 4 has anything to do with it smoking?

Does anyone have any suggestions as for what I should do? I'm planning to return the fan controller to Fry's in a few days. Should I buy an entirely different fan controller? I just wanna be able to control my fan speeds on the fly lol.

I was just using the molex connector that EVGA provided me with. I used the male part of the power connector from the fan controller to connect to the female part of the molex connectors from the psu. Perhaps I should just buy a fan controller that doesn't use power from molex cables?

That explains why the insulator jacket on the ground wires melted. That's why there is a CAUTION label affixed to the connector that you were suppose to connect to the PSU.

Oh that just says to plug in the LCD screen before turning on the PC
