Which secondary hard drive should I put in my Dell precision and 4800?

I have a Dell precision M 4800 with the 256 GB solid-state drive a Intel I7 4710 MQ and 16 GB of memory and a AMD fire Pro 2 GB graphics card. I am adding a second hard drive for my programs and storage and am going to run my OS and a couple of my main programs on the primary solid state drive. I have the choice between a 2 TB HDD 7200 RPM hard drive for $110 for a 240 GB solid-state drive for $140. What hard drive is going to give me decent performance running my programs from along with it is a nice amount of storage. Will the 2 TB HDD give me good performance when running my programs from it compared to the 240 GB solid-state drive?

When comapred to a SSD, any hard disk is very slow. If you don't need the additional storage offered by the HDD, then get the SSD.

Edit: Unless a program has to perform a lot of reading and writing, using a HDD mainly increases the loading time.

What about running a video converter or like microsoft office from secondary hard drive. Am i going to see a big difference in prefromance from the HDD between the SDD when running these type of programs.

It will take longer to load them, i.e., several seconds instead of 1-2 seconds. Same with saving large files. Once you use a SSD, any HDD feels rather slow.
