Brand new GTX 970 extremely unstable, causes shutdowns when load is applied

I recently upgraded my GTX 760 to a brand new GTX 970 (I also added another HD but I've confirmed that it isn't the cause of the problem), and I've been having issues with shutdowns the moment I put load on the card. Whenever I boot up a game (or benchmark) it runs just fine for a little bit (less than 10 minutes) and then the power cuts out, hard. Sometimes, when trying to boot again, it will get stuck in a loop and cut out every 5 seconds, requiring me to shut off the PSU. My PSU is a Corsair CX600M that puts out 600 watts and according to the calculator at http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine I only need 433 watts. How can I fix this?

CPU: Core i5, latest gen
GPU: Gigabyte G1 GTX 970
PSU: Modular CX600M

Had exact same problem. This is due to the fact that gtx 970 is so highly efficient that some of the lower quality/older power supplies are not use to the sudden change in power causing them to shutdown. To fix this problem I enabled the "Power Loading" feature in the bios so the power supply is able to draw out a constant amount of power through a "Dummy Load". No shutdowns since. Other people have tried messing with the nVidia Control Panel power options and to force an overclock on the graphics card to ensure consistent stable power.
