tools to clone/transfer JUST an OS to a new SSD

I recently bought an SSD and am attempting to move windows onto it from my HDD. iv'e tried Acronis and AOMEI and neither seem to work. I'm looking for good free programs to transfer JUST the operating system on to my SSD any help is appreciated.

The only one I know of that purports to move only the OS is Paragon Migrate. Not free.

But why 'only' the OS? What size SSD is it?

(I always recommend a clean install on a new SSD)

Yes i would clean install but time is a bit of an issue. The SSD is 240GB (intel 730) and my HDD is a 1TB Seagate

Well...your options are limited. The above mentioned, not free, Paragon. Or a clean install.

Any reason why you want 'only' the OS? You are losing a lot of the benefit of an SSD.

Once again just a matter of time and an HDD that is half full...I suppose I'll just clean install it in a few days. thanks.
