Z87 Motherboard with i7 4790k. Nothing showing up on screen

I'm building my first computer with a Maximus 6 Formula with an i7 4790k. I'm aware that the 4790k may not work with my Z87. So when i boot the motherboard (with VGA and RAM installed of course) and nothing shows on the screen, i assume its because of incompatibility with the CPU. If that is the problem can you please show me how to flash the BIOS. If there could be any other possible problems please let me know. Thanks!

You need to have at least bios version 1504 on that board *before* you install that CPU. So find an old CPU that it will boot with and update your bios first.

Ok, two questions. It's not a problem that I already installed the CPU is it? And where can I find the BIOS it shipped with? I've looked everywhere and I still can't find it, physically and online.
