I am building a new computer and i wanted to get windows 8.1 for software but I want to get the OEM version and not the full retail. I heard that once you put the OEM software onto the motherboard that it ties with the motherboard and you cant upgrade the software. I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade windows when they come out with updates with the OEM software or will i have to change the entire motherboard and get buy new software. Please some explain and clarify this to me i am so confused.

According to the Microsoft site, it DOES allow to upgrade Windows when update comes.
For the upgrade thing they just mean "Cannot be used as an upgrade license to an existing underlying Windows OS." So don't worry
