What do I need to upgrade to run games such as WoW and Shadow of Mordor on high-ultra?

My main aim at the moment is to run WoW in raids on at least high at 60 fps. I also desire to run newly released games such as 'Shadow of Mordor' on high to ultra settings at a similar fps.

Here is a link to a screenshot of my HWiNFO system summary:

My power supply is 600 watts.

My deepest gratitude for your assistance,

Glorfindel

Though the Vapor-X R9 280x should have better temperatures and better overclocking than the MSI Gaming R9 280x

To play WoW you prob want a new processor, for shadow of mordor you prob want a new graphics card. Eventually you will want to upgrade both. I would try to figure out how much you want to spend on upgrading, then go from there.

Thank you very much for responding. I think £350/$544.71 would be my total budget, though if absolutely necessary I could stretch beyond this. Any and all recommendations are appreciated :)

For wow: Overclocked i5, your 6870 is already more then capable of handling the gpu side of things.

For mordor 1080p you are going to need something along the lines of a 770, or 7970 ghz.
May also need to overclock them of course.

A 290 or 780 if you never want to go below 60fps and dont want to fiddle with settings.

Thank you for your response. My motherboard has an AM3 socket, and I don't really want to replace it because it seems to be working alright. I don't suppose you might have an alternative AMD suggestion? Cheers!

An overclocked 6300, the higher the ghz the better.

It may not be compatible/possible on your motherboard though.

Install this and post back with "mainboard" make and model.

Here are the average framerates you can expect with different video cards in Shadow of Mordor:

For the R9 280x you really should have an i5 or better though. It's worth the extra £16.

What's your power supply? Brand and model, not watts, as some crap PSUs wont be able to draw half the power they claim.

Wow guys, thank you so much for all the suggestions! They are all incredibly helpful. As it it 4am, I am heading to bed now, but I shall be returning to this thread tomorrow afternoon to carefully analyse and consider each one. I am very grateful for all of your altruism/help. Merry Christmas!

Wow is poorly coded and poorly threaded, this means that AMD CPU's tend to suffer in this particular game. AMD CPU's are only at an advantage to intel in well threaded games, when not, lower-end intel can beat even an FX 8-core CPU. With poorly threaded games, comes poor performance from AMD. WoW often requires better hardware to run then it 'really' does, so expect that your system will be under more strain then it needs to be. Games such as this are more CPU/Ram dependent so the GPU does not offer a 'major' improvement, though some graphics power is required. Shadow of Mordor is however GPU intensive, and in order to play both of these games well you would require a good CPU, GPU and Ram.

An intel i5 4440 (or better if you can expand) would be the best CPU for an upgrade, along with an R9 280 or higher. As already listed above, you would need a new motherboard also.

What is your PSU amps under 12V?
