Can I connect a microsoft desktop receiver 3.1's usb cable into a PS/2 port?

Can I plug the Microsoft Desktop Wireless Receiver 3.1 usb cable into the motherboard's PS/2 port by using a USB to PS/2 adapter? Will the receiver work?

The receiver can work at USB ports, and I do have tons of free USB ports in my ASUS z97 motherboard, but then the screensaver stops working for a misterious reason due to some USB/wireless keyboard conflict Microsoft could not care less about it, that's why I need it working at a PS2 port.
