Hello, I am currently building a PC, and it happens to be my first build (yay!); however, I am having a little trouble fitting the 20 pin section of a 20+4 pin from my power supply all the way in to my motherboard (about 3mm are left to push in). I have aggressively tried to connect the two, but there is still space. There is no debris in the 20 pins either. Could the psu still successfully connect to the mobo considering this issue? The whole system will not turn on (No power, no fans, No led's, etc). I am also wondering if there is another issue regarding another component. Any help would be great, and if you tell me how to add a picture, i will.

SPECS (posting everything just in case)

Case: Thermaltake Level 10 GT
CPU: Intel core i5 4690k (Stock fan for now)
MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 3
GPU: EVGA GTX GeForce 970
PSU: Rosewill Photon 750W 80 Plus Gold
Memory: Crucial 2x4GB ddr3
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD
Samsung 840 evo 250GB SSD
Samsung 840 evo 120GB SSD

let me guess, motherboard pwr socket is metric, and the pwr supply feed line is in inches. a mars probe mission crashed cause both were on the navigation cpu a decade or 2 ago.
anyway..that is odd..they're both new connections. check if the +4pin is a clip on or strap to the 20pin.
from what i can barely see..it looks like 1 24pin module.

The cable I have has a true 24 pin connector labled [m] and the other end has 20+4 pin connector with no label.
So you're saying i should plug the 20+4 pin into my power supply and plug the true 24 pin into my motherboard?

It's worth a shot. I agree with previous posters, can you upload an image of your issue?

There's a chance that the female pins in the psu cable are too short, to the males too long. The computer should boot fine, provided you can't wiggle around the connector.

So i Did the first part of this test (http://www.wikihow.com/Check-a-Power-Supply) and my fans and leds turned on, so i'm guessing its just a problem with the motherboard? any thoughts?

actually i have 1 300w pwr supply rigged like a test unit, this pwr supply has it's own switch rig on the unit and on the test lines. so i can control what gets pwr and what not to get pwr.

It wouldn't even fit if they were different. Since the fans powered on, you should be fine.

All you need is to make sure that the 24pin won't come out when you wiggle it. From my experience, you're fine.

As for the not powering on, try pressing in the 24 pin, and while pressing push the power button. If it doesn't boot, then try holding the 24 pin at an angle, so that one of the long ends is pressing on the inside (trying to make sure that the connection's fine.)

Cheap, poor quality power supplies often also don't mould the connectors very well - to the point where they don't fit properly.

Try it both ways...
