Hey Guys.

I'm new here so I apologize in advance if I didn't do anything correctly.

Anyway I've recently brought myself an Acer M3970 computer for a steal. The keyboard that I've been using is a Black IBM Model M (M13) which is connected via PS/2. The problem is that when I do a cold start of my computer, I can't use my keyboard whatsoever, it will work in the BIOS but not during windows (even in safe mode), it doesn't responded to any commands. However, if I send the restart signal and reboot my keyboard, the keyboard works fine.

Could anyone give me any information so that my PS/2 keyboard can work on the first go without having to restart it. I don't really want to buy a PS/2 to USB adapter since I think this is an issue with Windows 7 and not with my motherboard and/or Acer.

Regards,
Nick

I have tired reinstalling the operating system but when I use my model m keyboard with the windows installation, my keyboard wont respond :( I have updated to the latest BIOS but still no difference. If I use a linux live CD, my keyboard work fine but any windows OS, my keyboard wont respond unless I restart. This is really annoying :/ I don't really want to buy a new keyboard because I really love my Model M keyboard and hate using a dome keyboard since it just doesn't feel the same

I've figure out the solution to this. What I had to do what buy a PS/2 to a USB converter. The one I bought was a ATEN UC100KMA. Since then it been working like a charm with not hesitation.
