Hi, this is my first post so I hope I get it right.
I have a XPS 730 with the following parts:
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 770
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU X9650 @ 3.00GHz (I believe there are two of these)
CPU Speed: 3.7 GHz
RAM: 8.2 GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Sound Card: NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)
2 CD ROMs
I believe it is also water cooled and has a 1000w power unit.

My question is as it is over 5 years old can I upgrade the motherboard, CPU and Graphics card whilst reusing the RAM, case, sound card, hard drives and power unit. Also if I can install a new motherboard etc. will my OS work with my new motherboard?

Any help would be gratefully received.

For ram is probably ddr2 used so would need to be replaced too in that case.New sockets/motherboards use ddr3 and they already use ddr4 on socket 2011 V3.
Cooler probably would only fit socket 775 so would need to be replaced too.Maybe if your good at modding could you fit another coolingblock onto the new cpu,but i can't be sure of that and can't even know if that's the way to go anyway.
Case and the rest should be fine.

You would need to reinstall windows when using a new motherboard. With a oem windows could even that mean that you would need to get it reactivated, might need a phonecall to microsoft for that.If you're really really lucky would the...
