How far could I OC a 4690k with a CM Hyper 212 Evo?

Hello everyone,

So recently I discovered that, with my new r9 270, my side-mounted H80i couldn't fit in the computer without having the side panel open. So now my left side panel is taped to the case and the stair railing (not the best, I know).

To fix this, I ordered a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo because it wasn't nearly as thick as a h80i (obviously because it's an air cooler) and was wondering how far I could overclock my i5-4690k w/ Turbo Boost (3.9GHz) on a 430w EVGA PSU (thinking of picking up a 600w, not entirely sure though).

Thanks!

That PSU isn't too great at overclocking. I wouldn't suggest overclocking with that PSU. Normally, with a decent PSU, people would get 0.5 extra with that cooler and not reach 60C while gaming. I recommend checking Tomshardware's PSU guide. Get something from Tier 1 to Tier 2. Those are all great for overclocking. Tier 3 would be good too, in your condition. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html.

It would be quite a tight squeeze to overclock with that PSU. What case do yo use by the way?

I use the Antec One case. I was thinking of picking up a CX600, since they're on sale for boxing day at nearly every store near me.

EDIT: Oops, meant an EVGA 600W 80+ Bronze.

Just watch some reviews and make sure it's a good PSU. My EVGA NEX650G (650W) PSU is doing well imo and has a 10 year warranty, plus good efficiency with 80+ GOLD rating.

I can go 4.7GHz stable and 4.8Ghz unstable. But I bring it down to 4.6 or 4.5 for everyday use because the minute performance gain isn't enough to justify the added voltage and heat generated. I plan to keep my CPU for a couple more years and perhaps I can overclock it more in the future with added cooling. Most people can hit 4.2-4.4 on the Hyper 212 evo no problem.
