First, thanks everyone on this site to help me make a decent upgrade choice. I have an old Dell (2007) and need to upgrade the CPU, Graphics Card and Memory. I purchased,

Asrock H97M Pro4 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 2x4mb memory
Intel Core i5-4690k CPU
Seagate Barracuda 1T Drive
Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X Video Card

I'm new to building from scratch, so I'm wondering if I'll be ok using some of the old stuff I have. Will I be ok using the Dell mid-size case I already have with the power supply? It's a nice case. Nothing wrong with it. I also intend on re-using the CD Drives and network card I already have.

Let me know if you think this will be ok.

Thanks.

The Dell case will most likely not have correct mounting holes for the new mobo.
The powersupply will most likely not be able to power the the components, specifically the GPU.
And the Dell case most likely has the PSU mounted at the top of the case, which is bad for airflow.
The case itself most likely only has one single 80mm fan at the rear of the case, which provides poor airflow.

After all those "most likelys" I think we would benefit from some more info on your part :)

The 270x requires at least 24amps on the 12v rail, most of the OEM power supplies offer something more like 15-18 amps.
You will not need a network card. Your Mobo has that built in
and the CD Drive will work just fine.

Thanks for the quick response. I checked the psu. It's 17amps. So, you're right, the psu is underpowered. The psu is also mounted at the top. Who knows about the mounting screw locations. So, based on your feedback, I also bought a Corsair case and Corsiar 500w power supply. About a $100, so not terrible.

I appreciate the advice.

Well I can't know for sure about the mounting holes without knowing the exact model of the computer/case you were trying to put it into.
My Dell XPS series desktop has an oddly orientated mobo in it, with non-standard mounting holes. Your dell could have been different

But which Corsair case did you buy? They are all great!
