So for christmas i got an r9 290 and a new 750w psu.
Before instaalling them i had never had any problems with restarting. However now that i've installed them my PC keeps restarting? what have i doneeee?

My components are;
coolermaster 750w 80+ bronze psu
ASUS m5a78l usb 3 mobo
AMD fx 6300 cpu
Msi r9 290 gpu
three fans
1 hdd
2 x 4gb ddr3 ram

What is wrong with my PC? it surely cant be power as coolermaster said i only need about 450w!

When I first installed it this morning it was working fine for a few hours then this all happened! I've made sure all the psu connectors are in properly. Just put my old gtx 650 in and that worked fine i've been able to play games?

Should the pci-e connectors that power the 290 be on the same like strand? cos each one from the psu has two on one strand but ive used different strands for the 8 pin and 6 pin?

If someone gets this to work for me tonight I will legit give them £10 paypal... I just wanna play my games:(

Solution
o the problems was that once catalyst drivers were installed the computer would randomly restart, or it would tell me that my Graphics drivers stopped working and were restarted. The starts were not during heavy us but random. So you could be opening a browser, or event viewer, but you might be able to run a stress test on the GPU/CPU for a while. And all my temps were just fine and cool.
At first I changed most components. I got a new PSU, then changed the GPU, got a new MOBO, changed RAM from a second desktop, and even moved my CPU over. Funny thing the problem continued. It wasn't the components, and the problem would only appear when the catalyst drivers were installed. Funny thing the solution wasnt the drivers, but changing bios...

I'm positive its not the psu at this point and I have tried re instaling the os but that doesn't help but I have a hunch it's either the mobo or the hardrive, are you by any chance using a micro atx motherboard?

How do you know the PSU isn't the problem?

Hey I think I've got mine to work - download msi afterburner and in the settings of that, tick 'enable force current voltage' and 'disable ULPS' or something along those lines. Then in AMD catalyst go to the performance tab and enable overdrive - then in the settings of that change the setting on the right of the yellowish graph to +50%. I Did that last night and was able to play about 4 games of cod until I got tired as it was 5am. Good luck!

and all of a sudden my PC was stable.
So my final conclusion is that the current bios of this motherboard can't handle the R9 290.
it worked for me.
