Okay so here are my specs:
2x msi gaming edition gtx 970
16gb gskill ripjaws x series ram (2x8gb) clock of 2133 timings 9 - 9 - 11 - 31
amd fx 8350 cpu
sabertooth 990fx r2.0 mobo
1000 watt cooler master 80+ gold psu

My sli bridge is firmly attached, the video cards are fully inserted into clean pci slots, and everything is set up properly in bios as far as I can tell. The computers device manager, as well as multiple other softwares including the Nvidia control panel itself recognizes that I have two of the same exact card on board, but has no option for sli. Please help!

Solution

Thanks dude, all I had to do was switch my second 970 from the black slot to the tan and it all works like a charm now.

-Make sure the GPU's are in the correct Slots 1 & 3 (Tan) and that the SLI bridge is connected.
-Make sure the computer reads both cards in Device Manager & Nvidia Control Panel
-Go into Nvidia Control Panel and there should be an option called "Maximize 3d Performance". Thats the option to turn SLI on.

***If theres still issues do a clean install of graphics drivers***
