Hello people of this forum! Hope you all are having a good one, and know a thing or two about LGA 2011 Motherboards. So, to start off, my specs are as follows:
GPU: http://www.cnet.com/products/xfx-radeon-hd-7870-double-... (XFX Radeon HD 7870)
Processor: http://www.cnet.com/products/intel-core-i7-4930k-3-4-ghz-processor-bx80633i74930k/specs/ (intel i7-4930k)
Tower Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233&cm_re=cooler_master_cases-_-11-119-233-_-Product (Cooler Master HAF)
PSU: http://www.cnet.com/products/corsair-enthusiast-series-tx650-v2-power-supply-650-watt-series/specs/ (Corsair TX650, might be V1...not sure)
GPU I want to eventually use for 4k Gaming: http://www.cnet.com/products/xfx-radeon-r9-290x-black-edition-graphics-card-radeon-r9-290x-4-gb/specs/ (Might go for Double Dissipation....not sure)
Motherboard I'm currently looking at purchasing: http://www.cnet.com/products/asus-x79-deluxe-motherboard-atx-lga2011-socket-x79/specs/ (ASUS X79-Deluxe)
Well, I believe that is everything you would need to know to make an educated suggestion. The games I'd like to play would be most 2014 games as well as some older titles. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and 4, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and Unity, and Metro: Last Light...just to name a few. Hopefully somebody on this wonderful forum can help me out as I'd like to make a purchase relatively soon, and thanks ahead of time to anyone who puts in the work to help me out here.
Thanks, SuperbMTG

Alright buddy. This build with an other R9 290X will be OP. I didn't put a Case because thats your options. Look into the NZXT S340 or H440. Do not question the PSU or go cheap on it. Buy only that one since you will put an other R9 290X later.
Have fun.

Thanks for responding! Coming from a college kid, I want to point out that getting three GPUs isn't something I want to do if I don't have to. With that in mind, do I really need multiple GPU's to play games like the ones I mentioned at exceptional resolutions and get playable FPS?

I already have a 28 inch Samsung 4K UHD monitor so I think getting something like a 2560x1440p monitor isn't happening anytime soon. I could definitely get a second GPU down the line, my budget being probably close to $1,000 over the span of maybe a half a year. I will most likely purchase the first GPU for this project in a month or so. This actually brings up a good question that I have for you: would you recommend going the Nvidia route as opposed to the AMD/Radeon way when planning on using multiple cards? I am a big fan of the R9 290x that AMD makes, but if using two of those cards isn't as powerful as using say two of the competitions version of the 290x, then I will make the switch. Any help in that area, as well as motherboards is my main concern now. Thanks for the discussion btw!

Also as a side note, I already own the i7 4930K processor so I need to find a motherboard with the LGA 2011 Socket type. Got any recommendations for that type of mobo?

That looks like a promising build, Thanks! You've been a big help, but I have one last question if you don't mind. I've been doing a bit of research on the difference between SLI and Crossfire, and I hear a lot of people saying that when it comes down to it SLI is always going to win out. Do you have any information that could help me with that?

A little late but heres my two cents, It's mostly up to you which mobo you get. Look at features like pcie slots, wifi, bt, etc. let that help you decide. I have an Asus x79-deluxe and would personally never recommend it to anyone though. Firstly because it will not push my 4930k past 4.2ghz (that's with 125 bclk it won't go past 40x at stock bclk) Second because I had to Rma within 6mo of owning it because if you use bt headphones and WiFi at the same time your net speeds drop to >1mbps. Asus kept my board for a month and never returned my WiFi antenna after I was told to send it in also. They tried to charge me 20 usd to ship it back to me. I got one off eBay and the issue is still there. Lots of drama but as always YMMV!
Edit: don't forget quad channel memory controller so you'll need 4 sticks.
