Hey guys was hoping you could help me out.

I have a desktop PC with windows 8 Professional. What I want to do is to enable sharing and remote access "with a password" but I don't want to have to enter the password every time someone turns on the computer.

It seems by default the password required for sharing/remote access is linked to the account, and if you have a password for the account it will always ask you for the password when you turn on the computer.

Any ideas?

thanks in advance

Solution
You need to create a user and set a password for it. Then right click on the folder etc you want to share and select properties then go to sharing tab and click advanced sharing. Click on permissions and press add, on the field type in the username you want to have access to the share and press check name. It should change to something like 'mycomputername\myusername' and press ok. This should have added this user to the access control list for the share, also remove 'Everyone' from the user list. Select the user you added and below select if you want this user to have full control, modify or just read access etc and press ok. Now you should be only able to access the share with the user you setup for it.
