Hello people from tom'sHardware. I need some help finding a good GPU and CPU combo upgrade around my budget and also be able to fit in a new PSU. My budget is around ~$500. I was thinking if I should just get a PS4 and upgrade my PC later but I would like to play new games like Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, BF4, etc. So far people have told me to get an MSI GTX 970 and pair it with and i5-3470. Problem is I have a pretty bad PSU which I disregarded when I first built my PC. In that case, I would like to buy a PSU also but I have a tight budget.

Here are my specs:

-Intel Core i3-3220
-PNY GTX 550 ti
-Thermaltake TR2 600w PSU
-Asus P8B75 M- LE Mobo
-Coolermaster Enforcer Case /Two Fans/ (Just in case cooling will be a problem)

Alright, that seems about it. Just need some help finding a good combo that will also let me have enough money to fit in a new PSU.

Thanks

The Seasonic G 550W is even better, great choice.

Yes, the GTX760 is a couple steps down the ladder from the GTX970...

Alternatively the R9 285 or R9 280X are usually in that price class...

It's crucially important to understand, that performance does not originate with the GPU. In GPU bound conditions, performance and visual quality are always inversely variable. The GTX760 and GTX970 actually have the same FPS performance when properly matched to a visual quality workload (the GTX760 is a good match for 1080P at mostly high visual quality settings, while the GTX970 is a good match to 1440P with mostly high visual quality settings).

A GPU related performance problem is almost always user error. (improper visual...

So the GTX 760 is probably a step down from the 970 right? I think I'll swap the Capstone for the SeaSonic G Series 550w PSU.
